Teaching
Lloyd is highly passionate about teaching - not only sharing his knowledge and experience but sharing the joy of music itself. He has taught students of all ages and abilities in one-to-one and group lessons. His teaching strikes a balance between fundamental technical work and musical mastery - equipping students with the skills to be able to practise and improve, while also developing a broader understanding of music. Lloyd’s students have consistently achieved excellent results in ABRSM examinations; but he is also happy to set other goals tailored to the individual needs of the student - performances, auditions, or personal enjoyment.
On top of his private teaching, Lloyd is also an Instrumental Tutor for Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES), where he teaches flute, recorder and bassoon in one-to-one, small groups and whole classes across 4 different schools. Lloyd has also worked on educational projects through the Britten Sinfonia and Royal Academy of Music, and combines education work with his freelance performing career.
In addition to his BA and MA, Lloyd holds an LRAM teaching diploma, an LRSM in Flute Performance, and Grade 8 with Distinction in recorder, bassoon, and saxophone. He also teaches Music Theory, academic music and has provided Oxbridge application mentoring in the past; 100% of Lloyd's academic mentees went on to receive offers from Cambridge University to read Music.
Lloyd is able to teach online or at the student’s home, within reasonable travelling distance of Kennington, London. He holds an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
